It’s Basketball Season!

In our house there is a sport that goes along with every season.  Right now we are full swing into Basketball Season!  Technically we’ve been in basketball season since November but we are at the peak of it right now.

We have basketball games at least two nights during the week and a basketball tournament every weekend this month.  It definitely keeps us busy, but it does seem to help the winter pass a little faster.

This past weekend after we got home from our Saturday basketball tournament games, Callahan decided he wanted to have the team over to watch the NBA 3 point and dunk contests.  We sent a text out and all the players were able to make it.

I ran to the store to pick up the “supplies list” that Callahan made for me.  It included: Coke, Sprite, Root Beer, Cheetos Doritos, Pizza Rolls and cookies.  Easy Enough.

The game was about to come on so I was hurrying to get the food set out.  They were filing in and out of the kitchen grabbing pizza rolls, cookies, sodas.  I finally got done in the kitchen and went to grab a seat behind the action because I didn’t want to get in the way of their viewing.

This was my view!

I hear all kinds of laughing and commotion coming from the bedrooms so I figured I would check out what they were up to.  This is how they were “watching the 3 point contest”!

What you can’t see in the picture is the balls that were flying through the air, the kids jumping on the bed and the swords that were waving!  They were even playing some hallway basketball as well.

Tom said he thought they would be more interested in the Dunk Contest and he was right.  Once it started, they all gathered in front of the TV to watch it.

They didn’t get too excited at first but as they dunks got more creative they got more wound up.  They even picked teams for each player in the contest.  These boys can make anything competitive!  By the final dunk they were pretty fired up!

I think they all enjoyed coming over and getting to hang out with each other outside of a basketball game or practice.  I guess it could have been considered a team building exercise because they went on to win the tournament they were playing in the next day!

Look at the size of the trophy!!!

Tom told the players that each of them get to take the trophy home and keep it for two weeks. I think that is to buy him some time to find a place to display it permanently.

It was a good weekend for our Wildcat basketball team both on and off of the court.  We are back at it again this weekend!

  1. The trophy is awesome! I am sure the team building pizza roll party was what sealed the deal.😊
