Perfect Snacks for the Super Bowl

This Sunday is the Super Bowl!  For some reason this year I’m not that enthused about it.  I usually really look forward to watching it because I like one of the teams better than the other or have a player that I like on one of the teams.  Not this year.  Of course we’ll still watch the game, so I’m trying to narrow down our menu.

Here are some of our favorite snacks for watching the big game!

Poinsettia Punch

Poinsettia Punch is just the festive drink you need to make your holiday party a hit!  I love punch of any kind but this punch is one of my favorites!  There is just something about a punch that seems to make any get together a little more festive.

Not only does this punch taste great, it looks pretty too.  The floating cranberries really give it a holiday look.

This punch comes together in just a few minutes.  All you have to do is put all the ingredients in a punch bowl and add lemon lime soda to taste.  The recipe does include vodka but I think it would be just fine to omit it if you didn’t want to serve alcohol.

Serve Poinsettia Punch at your holiday gatherings this season!

Merry Christmas!

Sweet and Salty Snack Mix

Sweet and Salty Snack Mix – one of the hardest flavor combinations to resist!  Around the holidays it seems like everywhere you go there are sweets.  Cookies, candy, fudge.  As the name would suggest, this snack mix is mostly sweet with a little bit of salty.  The combination of the sweet and salty together make it the perfect snack!

You can have this Sweet and Salty Snack Mix made in 10 minutes.  It’s so quick and easy that you can whip up a batch of it and keep it on hand all holiday season.  I will warn you, it doesn’t stay around long.  Every time I make it, it is gone quickly!

All you have to do is boil the sugar mixture for 4 minutes and pour over the cereal mixture.  The microwave does  most of the work. You will need a brown paper bag to cook the mix in the microwave.  I usually have a Trader Joe’s or Kroger Clicklist bag on hand.  I know Aldi also has paper bags.

This is a simple and delicious snack mix that is great to have on hand for guests or to give as gifts this holiday season!

9 Thanksgiving side dishes and desserts

I can’t believe that Thanksgiving is next week!  Time is flying by!  Today I’ve rounded up 9 side dishes and desserts you will want for your Thanksgiving menu!

The star of every thanksgiving menu is not the turkey but the dressing!  I look forward to it all year.  This recipe for dressing is my favorite!

My family has always had dumplings on Thanksgiving.  It’s the thing my kids look the most forward to.  This is my Grandma’s dumpling recipe.  They are always a hit!

If you asked my husband what dish he looks forward to the most I think he would say broccoli rice casserole.  I started making it the first year we were married and I am on my 21st year of making it now!

Growing up I never liked sweet potatoes.  The first time I tried this sweet potato casserole, that changed my mind forever!

Thanksgiving would not be complete without some type of sweet salad.  We have been eating this cranberry relish for years.  I think it compliments the turkey perfectly!

If cranberry relish is too tart and too much cranberry for you then give this fluffy cranberry salad a try.  It has pineapple, marshmallows and cool whip too.  It has been a hit at our house!

If cranberries aren’t your thing, then give this Snickers apple salad a try.  My sister used to say this was the only “salad” she liked!

When I think of Thanksgiving dessert I always think of some sort of pie.  This apple pie never disappoints!  It is sooooo good!

Pecan pie is a classic Thanksgiving dessert and my family recently started really liking it. This pie is so easy a kid could make it!

Hopefully you’ve found a few new recipes to add to your family’s Thanksgiving menu.

Classic Pecan Pie

We are having our Thanksgiving Dinner at church tonight.  When I asked my kids what dessert they wanted me to make, they both agreed on Pecan Pie.  I love Pecan Pie and it’s easy, so I considered it a win-win situation!  Then I realized that I hadn’t shared my Pecan Pie recipe here and decided to change that today!

I know there are a lot of people that say they don’t like nuts, but I’ve found those people usually like Pecan Pie!  I mean, Karo syrup, sugar, eggs and vanilla…..what’s not to like?
